How Our Random Name Generator Works
Our algorithm is built upon a rich dataset of 225,600,000 individuals, from which we extracted names and gender information. This led to a collection of 3,461,027 unique names. Based on these, we developed a comprehensive system that categorizes names based on gender and uniqueness.
To identify unisex names, we defined a threshold: any name used by at least 30% of both males and females qualifies as unisex. Additionally, names that have been given to fewer than 1,000 individuals are classified into a special category we call "rare names".
Each time you make a GET or POST request, the algorithm selects a name at random from our dataset, ensuring a fresh and unique result with every query.
