The CleverUtils Story

The cleverutils.com domain was purchased in 2024 with a simple plan: build a lean, no-nonsense home for the file conversion and document tools we actually needed ourselves — and make them free for anyone else who needs them too.

We spent the following months building the conversion engine on top of proven open-source technology (FFmpeg for audio and video, ImageMagick for images, LibreOffice for documents, Ghostscript for PDF), then layering in AI-powered tools for tasks that simple transcoding can't handle: background removal, image upscaling, photo colorization, old photo restoration, audio noise reduction, and speech-to-text transcription.

Today CleverUtils.com ships 210+ converters across 100+ formats, 15+ AI tools, a public REST API, and an MCP server for LLM agents. Everything is free, no account required, and every fix and improvement is recorded in our public changelog.

Security & Privacy

We take data security seriously. Every file you upload is protected from start to finish:

• HTTPS encryption — all file transfers are encrypted with TLS/SSL, the same standard used by banks and e-commerce sites.
• Automatic file deletion — all uploaded and converted files are permanently deleted from our servers within 2 hours. No exceptions.
• No human access — files are processed by automated systems. No one on our side views or accesses your files.
• GDPR compliant — we follow European data protection regulations for all users worldwide.
• Isolated processing — each conversion job runs in its own sandboxed directory so your files never mix with anyone else's.

How We Work

CleverUtils.com is a small, engineering-driven project. We spend our time improving conversion quality, adding new format support, and chasing down edge-case bugs — not building paywalls or funnels. Every decision starts with a simple question: does this make file conversion easier for the person on the other side of the upload button?

We're privacy-first by design. Automatic 2-hour file deletion isn't there because regulations required it — it's there because it's the right default. Your files are yours. We process them and remove them.

Every bug fix, new converter, and tool we ship is recorded in our public changelog. If something's broken, we fix it and write it down — that's our whole process.
